How Reflexology works

How does Reflexology work?

Pressure is applied using thumb or fingers to the reflexes of the feet / hands that relate to the various parts of the body.

It involves a very specific 'order of treatment.' The reflexes of the right foot / hand relates to the right side of the body; the left foot / hand represents the left side. The right side of the body is treated first, via the reflexes found in the right foot / hand.

There are also Zone-Related areas, whereby certain areas of the body have a special relationship to another body part on the same side of the body.

This includes:

  • shoulder - hip
  • elbow - knee
  • wrist - ankle
  • hand - foot
For example, a fracture to the left ankle could be helped in the healing process, through treating the reflex of the left wrist.

Reflexology for Expectant Mothers

As expectant mothers, you may already know how beneficial Reflexology is, right from the beginning stages of pregnancy, through to the birth itself. If can help with the usual symptoms of pregnancy, such as backache, nausea, sciatica, hormonal imbalances, insomnia etc, but also with helping a breech baby turn as well as help onset of labour.

Reflexology is also useful and beneficial for both mother and baby after the birth, which can be a traumatic experience for both. Babies often experience headaches, neck pain, reflux, colic etc. as well as milk spots and eczema - all of which can be helped through Reflexology.

I am based in Littlehampton and  have over 7 years of experience as a Certified Reflexologist through the Bayly School of Reflexology.
